FIRE PREPARATION
As the bushfire season has commenced, here is a reminder of the importance of being fire ready. We all must Prepare.Act.Survive this season, so take some time to think about what you will do to be ready this summer.
Early predictions indicate that weather conditions this fire season could be as bad or worse than the last, so it is important to prepare our minds, our health and our homes for the summer.
The Country Fire Authority has developed material to help residents be prepared. You can visit www.cfa.vic.gov.au to find tools to assess the risk to your home, a Bushfire Survival Kit and information about the new fire danger ratings and total fire bans.
It is also vital to prepare our minds and maintain good physical health. Bushfires are traumatic and taxing experiences. Many of us have been touched, one way or another, by the fires earlier this year so it is even more important to be ready going into this bushfire season. There is some useful information on the Better Health Channel to assist with staying well.
Fires can happen anywhere, at any time and the best defence is to have a plan. Please consider what you will do to be fire ready today.
